Dakota Valley Recycling

DVR is the partnership recycling department for the Cities of Apple Valley, Eagan and Burnsville
that connects residents and businesses to recycling, composting and waste disposal information.

The Sustainability Site Visit pilot program has ended.  We are currently retooling this program to permanently integrate it into our larger ARROW business program, and hope to re-launch the Sustainability Site Visit component near the end of 2012.  Thank you for your interest.

green businessIn 2011, businesses wanting to to "go green" and looking for some hands-on guidance along the way had the opportunity to participate in our new pilot program, Sustainability Site Visits.  This program was a follow-up to the Green Business Workshop that was held on September 13, 2011.   The goal of the SSV program was to give local businesses personalized recommendations on energy and waste reduction for their facility, office or store.

What can I expect from my Sustainability Site Visit?

Once you fill out the Sustainability Site Visit Interest Form, you will recieve an initial phone consultation from a Dakota Valley Recycling staff about your organization's needs.  You will then be given a number of options available for how we can assist your efforts:

  • A site visit from a Dakota Valley Recycling staff for suggestions in the areas of recycling and waste reduction (required for participation in the Sustainability Site Visit program),
  • A free sustainability "starter kit" for trying environmentally-preferable products, such as 100% PCW recycled-content paper, coffee cups made from renewable materials and office supplies made from recycled plastic,
  • An energy assessment or energy audit by your electricity provider (scope and cost of assessment varies by power company),
  • An informational report based on the needs of your specific facility, with information on grants, loans, initiatives and programs available in your community for your organization to continue sustainability efforts.

If your organization is interested in participating in this unique program, please fill out this interest form at the following link: Sustainability Site Visit Interest Form.  It is completely voluntary and will be organized to fit the needs and goals of your individual business.   Site visits will be scheduled for December 2011.

If you have questions about this program, please do not hesitate to contact the Dakota Valley Recycling office directly at 952-895-4515 or use the Contact section to send us an email.  We hope you will take advantage of the SSV program to assist your organization in the areas of waste reduction, energy efficiency and/or sustainability.
