Dakota Valley Recycling

DVR is the partnership recycling department for the Cities of Apple Valley, Eagan and Burnsville
that connects residents and businesses to recycling, composting and waste disposal information.

Senior Eco Tour -  Every summer a group of senior citizens from each of the three cities is taken on a guided tour of different environmentally related destinations.  Participants often also hear presentations from speakers on a variety of environmental topics.  Tours have included places such as The Recycling Zone, Dakota County’s recycling facility; the School of Environmental Studies in Apple Valley, the City of Eagan’s Fire Safety Center, a Green Globe Certified building, and Valley Natural Foods, a natural and organic food cooperative in Burnsville.  Presentations have included things like the natural history of the Spring Lake Park Reserve area, living a life through reuse and recycling from a local resident and speaker, and utilizing wetlands for pollution prevention.

Shoe Recycling – For America Recycles Day in November, the three cities offer a shoe recycling drive where residents and employees can bring old shoes to be recycled or reused.  We work with a recycling company to collect the shoes and they are either reused if they are in good condition, or they are recycled for different materials like leather, nylon, and rubber.

Recycle Your Holidays™ -  The Recycling Association of MN (RAM) partners with businesses and local government facilities to offer recycling for holiday lights and cords over the holidays and into early January.  Dakota Valley Recycling promotes this collection through advertising the different drop-off locations in the metro area, but has also served as a drop-off site in the past at the City of Burnsville City Hall.  The Recycling Zone in Eagan has an ongoing collection for this program.
