Multifamily
Complex Recycling
Why Recycle?

Why Recycle?
Recycling is a
simple and effective way for apartment complexes to save money by
reducing dumpster sizes and the frequency of garbage pick-ups.
Not only is recycling a wise financial option, it is also the law.
The City's waste ordinance requires apartment complexes to provide
residents with the opportunity to recycle.
Multifamily complexes management and
staff can download a brochure here that
provides practical steps to bolster recycling
in your apartment building. If you have any questions, please
contact Dakota Valley Recycling at (952) 895-4559.

Recycling Educational
Materials
DVR
staff created recycling materials for multifamily complexes that
displayed a two-sort recycling system with images of recyclable
items. They designed several different pieces with a similar style to be
distributed throughout an apartment complex. The materials
below can be downloaded and used
by apartment staff to
improve visibility concerning a complex's recycling opportunities.
Magnets
Magnets were created to be distributed to each apartment unit.
They show recycling is accepted using the two-sort system--one
recycling cart for mixed paper and one recycling cart for mixed
containers. You can download the magnet design
here. |

Trash Chute Signs
Several
of the apartment complexes DVR staff worked with had a trash chute
room. We created a sign to post above the trash chute to
remind residents that recycling was available at their apartment
complex. We left a blank space on the sign for individual
buildings to write in or attach a label stating the location of
recycling carts. Click here download the trash chute sign. |

Recycling Cart Signs/Labels
DVR
staff created two different signs and labels to put on the recycling
carts. One sign showed the materials accepted for mixed paper
recycling and the other for materials accepted for mixed container
recycling. Labels of these designs were adhered to the
recycling carts and paper signs were posted behind the corresponding
recycling cart. Click here download a PDF of the recycling cart signs. |
